Offer - Estuary fishing for flathead

Fishing for flathead in estuaries using fresh or frozen bait has been well over taken by lure fishing but with the right tidal conditions and fresh or frozen bait catching flat head can be fun and not as hard as it seems
Drifting the incoming tides in estuaries can be very productive fishing for flathead as the tide will take you drifting in and around bends and across channels and your bait will do the same. Flathead are lazy, usually waiting for food to drift or swim across their path before they strike.
Use a large long shank No2 fishing hook with light weight and small swivel, Good idea to have about 30 – 50 cm of fishing line as a trace its easier to put the fishing bait on to the fishing hook.
A fresh or frozen pilchard is ideal bait when using this flathead fishing technique, cutting the pilchard in to two and feeding on to the long shank fishing hook. Have your gear all stowed away so there is room to land the big flathead
