Caught some great Tuna off the beach at Woodgate beach just 50km out from Childers.... They were chasing huge schools of bait fish and so having a baitfish lure on my rod already made it a quick choice lol.... caught the first one and while it was difficult to reel in i found reeling in with the waves made it easier, brought the first 1 in threw the line out again and it was hit immediately it was awesome pity we didnt have an esky probably could've kept catching......

Offer - McKenzies Channel Jacobs Well

McKensies Channel in usually a place for a sure catch, but today was only the little fellas. The wind was strong with prety rough conditions so we thought we would try McKensies channel, Which is usually out of the wind with some good flathead getting about. But not today. The tides were wrong for a start, with an incoming tide and strong winds it was hard to get into the right position. The few fish that did bite were well under size and the rest were just nibblers that take your bait. In these conditions it is best to find sheltered estuaries or river systems and go early morning before the wind picks up.

Offer - Launching trailer boats

I was launching my boat last week, and this guy lost his boat off the back of his trailer, Landed right on the prop of his outboard and slid down the ramp but never made the water. Not sure how much damage the was but it didn't sound good..
There are few rules to follow when launchung your boat at the boat ramp.
Always leave the saftey chain (runs from your trailer to your boat) on untill your trailer is right down the boat ramp and you are ready to push your boat into the water. this keeps the boat on the trailer when reversing down the ramp.
Always check the bungs are in to keep the boat from sinking.
Make sure you have your boat ready before you put it into the water, Boat Ramp Rage is a common as Road Rage these days and boaties don't like to wait at the boat ramp.....

Offer - Tides

There is four tides per day, two high tides and two low tides, The highest of the high tides and the lowest of the low tides occur during the spring tides, These tide happen during the new and full moons. Neap tides can occur on the first and last quarter of the moon and is the highest of the low tides.
There is around six hours between the top of the high tides and bottom of the low tides With the tidal flow being the strongest during the third and fourth hours, this can be refered to as Tidal twelfths.
Check the differences between tides when anchoring. The anchorage may end up in low water on the low tides. When anchoring over night can be good idea to use second or anchor at the back or tandem anchor, as the tides change so will the direction of your boat and might even free the anchor.

Offer - The Victorian Game Fishing Club

The Victorian Game Fishing Club is a family oriented fishing club with a vision to acheive an environment that will induce present and future generations anglers to value and appreciate the benefits of membership of a vibrant game fishing club. The Victorian Game Fishing Club was formed by five friends, at the time all members of the A.N.S.A. club, the Peninsula Sports Fishing Club. After "discovering " a place called Bermagui on the New South Wales south coast they decided a Blue Water club would suit their needs. So in July 1974 the Victorian Game Fishing Club was born.Going from strength to strength with a growing membership the club purchased it's own premises in December 1982. The clubrooms, located at 186 Station Street, Edithvale, have been brought up to their present standards through the efforts of successive committees and, of course the club membership that has grown to around 300.Visit the Victorian Game Fishing Club Website for more details and contacts

Offer - PEEL ISLAND

Peel Island is a small island in Moreton Bay on the way over to North Stradbroke Island, like most fishing spots, it has its good and not so good days. The eastern side of Peel is usually good fishing on the running tides with quality catches of Squire, Bream, and Flathead using soft plastics or fresh pilchards, squid or Gar.
The deep chanel between Peel and Nth Straddie has been producing early season Tuna and Mackerel chasing the bait fish, These pelagics can be caught by casting large chrome lures into the middle of the feeding frenzy, but be quiet, it is hard not to spook them, stealth is needed to bag a good fish here but they average around 1.5 - 3 kg...and are great fight.
I like to check to weather cam from

Horseshoe Bay before heading for a session out there.

I would like to hear from other anglers who can share their fishing spots and techneques , you can post them on this website for all our user to enjoy or try.

Crossing the bar can be dangerous at times, It is best to go with an experienced boatie first before attempting to cross your self.
Most people preffer to head out on the run in tides and also return on a run in tide.
Pick your weather right and you could be catching snapper from offshore reefs.
ocean cams can be a good idication of weather conditions.

Offer - Nerang River

The Nerang river has good inflow points providing fish with plenty of food.
The best times for drifting the Nerang River is on the run in tide or on the last of the run out tides. Good quality Trevally can be caught around dawn using popper lures.
Bream and flathead bite well on strips of Fresh squid, peeled prawns with light line and weights, best to use long trace as well.
During the night, sharks, big flathead, and mangrove jacks respond well to live poddy mullet or strips of mullet or tuna flesh. mullet will also attract Mud Crabs so a few crab pots would be ideal.
No boat No worries, the Gold Coast City Council has put many fishing platforms along the Nerang River where land based anglers can enjoy quality catches.
Happy hunting

Offer - Quiet Fishing spot in the Wide Bay area

I was up at Paradise Dam the other day and I just love this fishing spot. Still a bit of an unknown fishing area it seems - there was not much fishing going on here at all but the lake makes for a fantastic day or weekend and there is certainly plenty of fish going around. The Dam on the Burnett River is not classed as a stocked impoundment therefore no fishing permits are required. However, before the construction of the Dam (which is rather recent) the river was stocked with Bass, Barramundi and Perch. It is very likely and already in the planning that Paradise Dam will be actively stocked in the near future. Visit the Paradise dam website to read up on current fishing permit requirements - or simply ask at the kiosk when you get there.Click here to visit the website
