There is four tides per day, two high tides and two low tides, The highest of the high tides and the lowest of the low tides occur during the spring tides, These tide happen during the new and full moons. Neap tides can occur on the first and last quarter of the moon and is the highest of the low tides.

There is around six hours between the top of the high tides and bottom of the low tides With the tidal flow being the strongest during the third and fourth hours, this can be refered to as Tidal twelfths.

Check the differences between tides when anchoring. The anchorage may end up in low water on the low tides. When anchoring over night can be good idea to use second or anchor at the back or tandem anchor, as the tides change so will the direction of your boat and might even free the anchor.
