The Nerang river has good inflow points providing fish with plenty of food.
The best times for drifting the Nerang River is on the run in tide or on the last of the run out tides. Good quality Trevally can be caught around dawn using popper lures.
Bream and flathead bite well on strips of Fresh squid, peeled prawns with light line and weights, best to use long trace as well.
During the night, sharks, big flathead, and mangrove jacks respond well to live poddy mullet or strips of mullet or tuna flesh. mullet will also attract Mud Crabs so a few crab pots would be ideal.
No boat No worries, the Gold Coast City Council has put many fishing platforms along the Nerang River where land based anglers can enjoy quality catches.
Happy hunting
