The warm waters over the past weeks have been producing good size crabs in most river and estuary systems. There are quiet a few crabs being caught that have soft shells and are likely to be empty, so please return these crabs if you catch any.

Mud crabs have been on the move with plenty being caught around the mouth of the rivers and estuaries using fresh whole mullet for bait.

There are quality sand crabs being caught in deeper waters and also around the Islands and channels.

Crabs will be on the move during the warmer months, try fresh whole mullet, fish frames, or chicken carcus. For best results cable tie the bait to the bottom and centre of the crab pot, this will ensure the crabs enter the pot as they can't reach the bait from the out sides.
